About us - Van den Hoven Jachtbouw

About us

Boats and sailing have played an important role in the life of the Van den Hoven family. It was no surprise then when Bart van den Hoven began building a 10-meter yacht in his backyard as a hobby in 1992.

As a passionate master carpenter, Bart found he could deploy his experience in interior construction to great effect. And these skills are still reflected today in the superb motor yachts built by Van den Hoven Jachtbouw.

First venture

The construction and quality of Bart’s first venture attracted lots of attention and the boat was quickly sold. This made it possible for him to begin a second yacht and the course was set. After building five yachts himself, Bart decided to professionalise the process, take the plunge and start a proper business. The rest, as they say, is history. He and his wife Monique have been at the helm of Van den Hoven Jachtbouw since 1999, and they were recently joined by their daughter Michelle. Some 50 Van den Hoven boats have been launched between 12 and 22 metres.

Van den Hoven Jachtbouw has been well managed from day one, with no room for unrealistic ambitions, hollow promises or runaway overhead costs. Thanks to the major investments of recent years, including in a new office facility and new designs for our yachts, we can approach a growing market with complete confidence.

Dutch quality

Van den Hoven Jachtbouw serves an increasingly discerning group of clients. Our customers often have years of experience with motoryachts, the nautical life, and yards in general. They have clear ideas about the comfort, quality, sailing experience and safety they desire – as well as the space, layout, finishing, service and warranty work. To provide Van den Hoven owners with the best possible service, we draw on all the knowledge and experience gained over the last 20 years and translate it into a perfect balance between form and function.

Our values

Van den Hoven Jachtbouw is dedicated to integrity and decency. We work as transparently as possible to earn your full trust. This also boosts efficiency and allows for a fast pace of construction.

We do everything to ensure that the construction of your yacht proceeds as smoothly and flexibly as possible. The short lines of communication and direct contact make the partnership both transparent and pleasant. We do what we promise and listen carefully to your wishes and sailing plans.

Many of our customers share their vision of sailing with us and new insights, solutions or ideas are always more than welcome. The more pleasure and comfort we can provide for you on board, the happier we will be!

High-quality materials

By deploying the famed Dutch construction methods we smoothly blend tradition and innovation. This reflects the fact that – despite all the new technologies available to us today – a semi-custom-built yacht still requires lots of traditional craftsmanship from true professionals.

All Van den Hoven vessels are made in high-quality steel and aluminium. This makes us flexible and allows us to integrate any particular needs you may have directly during construction. Everything is carried out in-house, from the hull to the final finishing details. This offers you a great deal of flexibility, ensures we are always close to the action, and allows us to consistently guarantee the highest quality.

At the same time, Van den Hoven continues to develop and stay on the cutting edge of new techniques, systems, methods, standards and requirements. We do everything in our power to make each vessel is a further testament to our search for ever-better quality. In doing so Van den Hoven remains head and shoulders above the competition and our boats retain a relatively high resale value, which is reflected in the market for pre-owned yachts.

SEMI-CUSTOM-BUILT JUST FOR YOU

Because Van den Hoven Jachtbouw builds in steel, we can make room for all your preferences within our model range. We would love to sit down together and discuss the details: combining your wishes with our experience, we’ll arrive at a yacht that perfectly reflects your lifestyle. The entire layout can also be adapted to your requirements. The manner and frequency with which you use your yacht, for instance, will determine the layout – and we can produce almost any layout imaginable. Would you like to sail around Europe as a couple or make lots of weekend trips with a family of eight? Let’s build the bespoke yacht of your dreams.

Specific wishes

Our clients’ many individual wishes ensure that no two Van den Hovens are the same. The immediately visible differences are mainly in the materials used and the level of finishing, including upholstery, types of wood, glossy or matt lacquer and, of course, the colour. Our woodworking department knows how to produce the most gorgeous and refined joinery, giving your interior a degree of comfort normally found only on much larger yachts.

We apply state-of-the-art techniques and materials in all our yachts. If you have very specific requirements in terms of navigation equipment, digital optimisation, automation or other capabilities, we can meet those too. Barbecue on the flybridge, jacuzzi, tender garage, outdoor kitchen, tailored biminis, high-quality sound installations – you can leave it all to us.

a faster future

Van den Hoven has developed a new line of faster aluminium motoryachts. This allows the yacht to sail long distances in a shorter time. Head to the Norwegian west coast, for instance, with its spectacular fjords that are often quite far apart. Or take a tour of the Greek islands, enjoying how different they are from each other. It’s on these kinds of trip that a faster yacht can make all the difference. And the same applies to the rest of the Mediterranean with its splendid and diverse coastline that stretches out for thousands of kilometres.

The fast-sailing Voyager semi-custom range is entirely in line with the renowned Van den Hoven philosophy: lots of space, a high standard of comfort, top quality and true sailing pleasure.

The Voyager range features the Voyager 50, Voyager 61, Voyager 71 and Voyager 81.
